I'll try to keep this short: I was born in Kent; lived in Hong Kong; did a degree in film; photography and dance (yes dance!) in York; went travelling for 2 years through Africa, Asia and Australia; worked for Trailfinders travel agency in London where I enjoyed a lot of free travel (those were the days);  married a girl from Yorkshire and moved to rural France in 1992. Since then I've renovated numerous old ruins and turned them into characterful stone houses, which we now let out in the tourist season.

So what about the photography? My interest in photography started in my teens when I lived in Hong Kong. Living in such a different culture opened my eyes to a new world and gave me a taste for travel. Armed with a second hand Canon and a couple of lenses I learned my trade on the road, shooting thousands of transparencies. The slides started to pile up, so I submitted them to stock agencies.  As they sold in ever-increasing numbers, I decided to dedicate more time to photography. My dream had always been to combine travel with photography and after a running a few tours and workshops, I decided to go full time in 2011. I absolutely love running tours and have spent time with amazing, inspiring people as a result. So I guess that makes me a travel photographer and a tour leader. 

My principle stock agencies are AWL images and 4 Corners images. They work amazingly hard to sell my images in an increasingly competitive market.  My photos have appeared in many publications and other media over the years with some of my main clients being Conde Nast Traveller, Michelin guides, Wanderlust travel magazine, France magazine and Sunday Times Travel.

Lastly, I'd say that my natural habitat is outdoors. I'm more comfortable in the countryside than in a busy city. I prefer the sound of birdsong to traffic and a real jungle to a concrete jungle. As far as I'm concerned, the less time spent in front of the computer the better. Being surrounded by nature and beauty just makes me happy. It's as simple as that!

Je vais essayer d'être bref : je suis né dans le Kent ; j'ai vécu à Hong Kong ; j'ai obtenu un diplôme de cinéma, de photographie et de danse à York ; j'ai voyagé pendant deux ans en Afrique, en Asie et en Australie ; j'ai travaillé pour l'agence de voyage Trailfinders à Londres, où j'ai beaucoup voyagé gratuitement ; j'ai épousé une fille du Yorkshire et nous nous sommes installé en Corrèze en 1992.  J'ai rénové de nombreuses vieilles ruines et les ai transformées en maisons de caractère en pierre, que nous louons pendant la saison touristique.

Mon intérêt pour la photographie a commencé à l'adolescence, lorsque je vivais à Hong Kong. Le fait de vivre dans une culture si différente m'a ouvert les yeux sur un monde nouveau et m'a donné le goût du voyage. Armé d'un Canon d'occasion et de quelques objectifs, j'ai appris mon métier sur la route, en tirant des milliers d'images. Les diapositives commençant à s'accumuler, je les ai soumises à des agences de publicité.  Comme elles se vendaient de plus en plus, j'ai décidé de consacrer plus de temps à la photographie. Mon rêve a toujours été de combiner le voyage et la photographie et, après avoir organisé quelques stages photos, j'ai décidé de me lancer à plein temps en 2011. J'adore organiser des voyages et j'ai ainsi passé du temps avec des personnes incroyables et inspirantes. 

Mes principales agences de stockage sont AWL images et 4 Corners images. Elles travaillent d'arrache-pied pour vendre mes images sur un marché de plus en plus concurrentiel.   Mes photos sont apparues dans de nombreuses publications et autres médias au fil des ans, mes principaux clients étant Conde Nast Traveller, les guides Michelin, le magazine de voyage Wanderlust, France magazine et le Sunday Times Travel.

Enfin, je dirais que mon habitat naturel est le plein air. Je me sens plus à l'aise à la campagne que dans une ville animée. Je préfère le chant des oiseaux à la circulation et une vraie jungle à une jungle de béton. En ce qui me concerne, moins je passe de temps devant l'ordinateur, mieux c'est. Être entouré de la nature et de la beauté me rend heureux.
