16th - 30th March, 2026
Our Georgia photo tour in 2024 was a great success, so I've decided to offer another tour in 2025.
Every day is an adventure in this fascinating country. The landscape is breathtaking with peaks in the high Caucasus rising over 5000 metres; lush valleys full of orchards, and forests; vineyards; river valleys; waterfalls and the lush Black Sea coastline. The architecture in incredibly varied, from medieval churches and monasteries perched on hilltops to grand Soviet buildings and the quirky modern architecture of Batumi.
It's also very safe and people are extremely friendly. The food is delicious and the local wine is excellent, which is hardly surprising as Georgia has been making wine for over 8000 years.
Our journey takes us from the Capital, Tbilisi to the Black Sea and into the high Caucasus. Our tour is timed to coincide with autumn colours which look amazing at the end of October. Here's a brief description of the itinerary. Please contact me for further details.
Day 1 & 2: Tbilisi. We'll be based in the old town near to Freedom Square which is perfectly located to visit the most photogenic locations such as the Sioni Cathedral with its stunning interior; Holy Trinity Cathedral which looks dazzling at the blue hour; the traditional houses and Roman bathes of the Abanotubani District; Soviet buildings such as the Opera House and the Palace of Rituals. You could spend weeks in Tbilisi!
4* Hotel 2 Nights
Day 3: We drive via the ancient capital Mtskheta and through the barren plateau South -West of Tbilsi, which resembles the high Steppes of Mongolia, to Akhaltsikhe home to the Rabati Fortress. The complex around the fort is exquisite and offers up endless compositions. We'll photograph the complex around sunset and the following morning.

Day 4: Today we drive to the coastal town of Batumi. This city is full of surprises and looks fantastic at night. Day 6 A newly built road takes us through the spectacular mountains that separate Russia from Georgia to the jewel of the Caucasus which is Ushguli. This place has to be seen to be believed. In late October, there's a good chance that it will be covered in snow whch makes this extraordinary place even more beautiful. After a full day photographing the landscape and architecture of the High Caucasus, we descend to Kutaisi.
Day 7 Kutaisi is Georgia's 3rd largest city. It's has a vibrant centre with a lively bazaar, great for people photography, an ornate fountain, the magnificent Bagrati Cathedral as well as some amusing murals and architectural gems. Near to the city is the medieval Orthodox Gelati monastery and Tskaltubo, Georgia's semi-abandoned spa town.

Day 8: We will make an early start and follow Georgia's most spectacular road that leads to Kazbegi. On the way, we'll stop at Gergeti Trinity church which sits up on a ridge surrounded by mountains. We'll arrive at the famous Rooms hotel to enjoy the view of the valley at sunset.

*I would strongly recommend spending a few extra days in Tbilisi if possible.
*Georgia is very drone friendly. The churches and monasteries look amazing from above!
